Evista Uses:
Like estrogen, EVISTA reduces bone loss and increases bone density.
However, Evista does not have estrogen-like effects on the uterus
and breasts, and therefore is unlikely to increase the risk of cancer,
as estrogen therapy sometimes can do.
Although Evista has been shown to increase bone density over the
course of a two-year study, its longer-term ability to prevent bone
fractures has not yet been proven.
How To Take Evista:
Take Evista once daily, at any time, with or without food. Take
calcium and vitamin D supplements as well, if you do not get enough
in your diet. Avoid alcohol and tobacco. Do weight-bearing exercises
to strengthen your bones.
If you miss a dose of evista take it as soon as you remember. If
it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and
go back to your regular schedule. Never take a double dose.
Possible Side Effects of Evista:
Side effects that may occur while taking evista include hot flashes
or leg cramps. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your
doctor. Check with your doctor as soon as possible if you experience
swelling of hands, feet, or legs; breast pain or enlargement; unusual
weight gain; or abnormal vaginal bleeding or spotting. Contact your
doctor immediately if you experience pain in your calves, leg swelling,
sudden chest pain, shortness of breath, or changes in vision. If
you notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor,
nurse, or pharmacist.
Precautions With Evista:
It is important to have enough calcium and vitamin D in your diet.

your diet or about taking dietary supplements such as calcium or
vitamin D. Before you have any medical treatments, emergency care
or surgery, tell the doctor that you are using this medicine. Before
your begin taking any new medicine, either prescription or over-the-counter,

your doctor immediately. IT IS UNKNOWN IF THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED
in breast milk. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while taking this medicine.
