Aciphex Uses:
Aciphex is a proton pump inhibitor used to treat ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux, erosive esophagitis, or Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Aciphex works by blocking acid production in the stomach. It
may be used in combination with antibiotics (e.g., amoxicillin,
clarithromycin) to treat certain types of ulcers. It may also
be used to treat other conditions as determined by your doctor.Aciphex comes as a delayed-release (long-acting) tablet
to take by mouth. Aciphex tablet is usually taken once a day for extended
periods of time. When taken for ulcers, Aciphex/rabeprazole should
be taken after the morning meal.
How To Take Aciphex:
Take Aciphex tablet as prescribed by your doctor. Taking Aciphex once a
day reduces the amount of acid in your stomach, helping to relieve
your heartburn symptoms and helping you feel better. It is very
important that you keep taking Aciphex tablet for as long as your doctor
tells you.
Aciphex tablets should be swallowed whole. They should not be chewed,
crushed, or split. If you have any questions, please talk to your
doctor, healthcare provider, or pharmacist.
Aciphex Special Precautions:
Before taking Aciphex
- Tell your doctor if you are allergic to rabeprazole, lansoprazole
(Prevacid), omeprazole (Prilosec), pantoprazole (Protonix), or
any other medications.
- Tell your doctor and what prescription and nonprescription medications,
vitamins, nutritional supplements, and herbal products you are
taking. Be sure to mention any of the following medicines: cyclosporine
(Neoral, Sandimmune), digoxin (Lanoxin), and ketoconazole (Nizoral).
Your doctor may need to change the doses of your medications or
monitor you carefully for Aciphex side effects.
- Tell your doctor if you have active or inactive liver disease.
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant,
or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking Aciphex/rabeprazole,
call your doctor.
Possible Side Effects:
NO COMMON SIDE EFFECTS HAVE BEEN REPORTED with the proper use of
Aciphex Tablet. If you notice any unusual effects, contact your
doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
ACIPHEX TABLET has a well-established safety record. The most common
side effect possibly related to ACIPHEX is headache. Symptom relief
does not rule out other serious stomach conditions. Patients also
on warfarin (such as Coumadin®) may need to be monitored more closely
by their doctor.

Who Should Not Take:

milk, many drugs are. Because of the potential for adverse reactions
to nursing infants from Aciphex, a decision should be made to either
